"Neva ring" history

    Simply the best track in Russia so far... Constantly improving, they even going to add another kilometer to the lengh of the track before the end of 1999 season!
    The Neva Ring is the oldest race track in Russia it begins its history in 1960's through the 70's. In 80's with the openings of Bikkernieki and Chayka tracks the Ring had been closed, but in 1993 it held the only race of the national championship. Next time race cars came there in 1996 for the second venue of the national championship. In 1997 the track underwent significant changes: barriers and fencing had been added, nearly half of the surface had been changed and the track held two races that year, one exhibition and one race of the national championship. During the winter of 97-98 the resurfacing had been finished, the first chicane was added to the "big radius" in order to slow the cars down. Also a real pitlane was added.
    In 1999 the second chicane had been added to the "big radius", the pitlane exit was extended and a few gravel traps were added. A new computer scoring system was added.
    In 1999 the track is going to hold three races of the national championship and two races of the Cup of Russia. The track features really good surface, nice configuration and world-class safety. St. Peterburg now is the capital of russian autosport.

Automobile races on "Neva ring" in 2003

    In 2003 the Championship of Russia on automobile ring races will be spent in four class: sport cars - "Touring", "Supertourism" and formula - "Formula 1600", "Formula Rus ".
    The realization of four stages of a Championship is planned on "Neva ring", other part of Championship will pass in Togliatti and Moscow.
    Except for class of a Championship of Russia will pass also competitions in monoclasses - "Lada Cup", "Honda Civic Cup" and Cup of Russia "Volkswagen Polo".
    The reception of the license on a circuit of the Federation International Automobile (FIA) considerably will expand opportunities for participation in competitions foreign drivers. The serious interest to participation in competitions on "Neva ring" is shown by Automobile Federations and auto clubs of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, that has resulted in creation "Cup of East Europe", in which will take part drivers from Russia, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Kirov's stadium

    The circuit "Neva ring" is located in territory of the largest sports structure of St.-Petersburg - Kirov's stadium, containing more than 60 thousand the man.
    The powerful infrastructure designed for service of a plenty of the spectators, ideally approaches for realization is sports - mass of measures.
    Length of a circuit surrounding a hill of Stadium, - 2670 meters, width - from 12 up to 16 meters. Along a starting straight line passes pit-line, behind which are located boxes for repair both service of automobiles and park - parking of the participants.
    In area of a line start - finish two covered tribunes for organization of zones VIP of the sponsors are constructed. The guest zones of teams and sponsors settle down as well on balconies of the bottom circle along a starting straight line.
    On a slope of a hill of stadium up to 40 thousand spectators are freely placed, a part from which can observe of competitions from tribunes placed on the bottom circle. On all line the radiocompilation works. The results of competitions operatively are displayed on an information board located opposite to the tribunes VIP.

Competitions

    Each competition passes within three days (since Friday till Sunday). Opening of competitions - in Sunday at 12.30. Start first race at 13 hours. All races go on class. The automobiles of the participants settle down on a starting lattice according to results qualifying race, which will be spent on the eve - on Saturday. The winner considers driver as first a complete distance (27 circles). Duration everyone race - about 45 minutes, interval between races - 15 minutes. The rewarding of all winners will be spent directly upon termination of everyone race.
    Upon termination of competitions, at 18 hours, there passes a press conference with participation of the winners and representatives of teams.
    More than 300 men (judge, official persons, personnel of a line, service of safety, police, fire accounts, medical workers) are involved in preparation and realization of competitions.
    In 2003 the entrance for the spectators on competitions is supposed to make free-of-charge. For the owners of motor vehicles is organized parking in territory of Stadium.
    During competitions the spectators have an opportunity freely to move along a circuit. In territory of stadium work mini-cafe.
